Montville, CT – Rayvel proudly introduces the HoLocatortm holographic street address numbers that illuminate in any oncoming vehicle’s headlight (no batteries required) so that visitors or emergency vehicles can identify an address.

The individual number holograms are recorded on a transparent photopolymer and adhered over matching printed numbers. When light is not shining on the holographic numbers, they are transparent, making the printed numbers underneath visible. Therefore, the address is visible both day and night.

The numbers are applied to a mounting bracket that is adjustable for achieving the optimal angle to traffic, for maximum brightness and clarity. Hardware is included providing easy mounting to a mailbox, or slotted metal pole, or a tree.

The HoLocatortm is the perfect safety and convenience accessory for suburban and rural homes. It is available in Standard (up to 3 numbers) and Extended (4 to 5 numbers) versions with suggested list price of $25 and $30 respectively.

“It is an affordable, personalized, high-tech gift that doesn’t require batteries,” comments Joe Ciaudelli, President. “The HoLocator‘ represents not only a significant addition to our product line but also a pioneering breakthrough for our company. Holograms generally become visible with an “angle of reconstruction” of about 45 degrees. Basically, the light is between and well above the hologram and the viewer. In contrast, the application for the HoLocatortm required a very narrow angle, about 10 degrees, so that the vehicle headlights illuminate the HoLocatortm numbers, producing maximum brightness with a wide viewing angle. Hologram masters required for production are made on a photosensitive glass plate exposed to laser light. It was discovered that the laser beam incident to the glass plate at such a narrow angle caused the light to reflect off the back of the plate and “bounce” between the faces of the glass, causing fringe distortions (several lines throughout the hologram). Our team developed an optimized optical configuration using an “index matching fluid” technique of laying the glass master in a thin layer of mineral spirits to absorb the laser light after it initially passed through the glass plate, preventing back reflections. Furthermore, the holograms shift in color and become brightest and most clear at a predetermined, resonant angle. This property can be used for angular positioning applications, such as a left-center-right alignment indication when a truck approaches a dock or a rocket mates with a space station.
